
SIGNS OF DIABETES IN TODDLERS
Unluckily it is not uncommon for toddlers to develop diabetes. The fact is that this
epidemic is becoming more common in children. The problem here is that toddlers are unable to realize or
explain that something is going wrong with them. It is our duty as parents to identify these signs of
diabetes in toddlers. If the parents have a thorough knowledge of signs of diabetes in toddlers they will be
in a better position to tell pediatrician about the health condition of their child.
There are different signs of diabetes in toddlers. If any one is present in your child
then there is no need to worry but if more than one sign of diabetes are present in your toddlers you must
seek the medical advice as early as possible.
Excessive Peeing
This is the first sign of diabetes in toddlers that alarms the parents. In this case
not only the toddler has to go in the washroom more often but at the same time he urinates whenever and
wherever he is. Sometimes toddlers start bed-wetting.
Increased Thirst
Another sign of diabetes in toddler is that he is thirsty all the times. Healthy
thirst is not bad but if it looks the toddlers is not getting enough fluid as needed then it means that child
is having some problem.
Weight Loss
Another sign of diabetes in toddler is that child is eating healthy but still losing
weight. The parents must keep their eye on this symptom and must discuss this problem with his
pediatrician.
Excessive Hunger
Increased hunger is another alarming sign of diabetes for toddlers. This is especially
alarming if child has an increased hunger but still losing weight.
Diaper Rash
Another sign of diabetes in toddlers or infants is the diaper rash. This rash does not
easily heal even after the application of medicated cream.
There are some other serious signs of diabetes in toddlers like vomiting, nausea and
labored breathing. If any of the above sign of diabetes is seen you must contact doctor
immediately.
