BLURRED VISION - WARNING SIGN OF
DIABETES
Mostly diabetes lies dormant for several years without diagnosis and detection. When a
person is diagnosed with this chronic illness the chances are that diabetic complications have already set
in. It is important to go through routine blood checks to ensure that blood sugar levels are in range. The
necessary precautions check the risk of diabetic complications which otherwise can affect other body parts
like foot, blood vessels, eye, kidney, nerves and heart.
If you or your loved one is experiencing blurred vision, eye pain or sudden loss of
vision you must not put off the doctor’s visit. As these are the symptoms of eye related diabetic
complications.
If there is a high level of sugar in blood, the blood vessels of retina may subject to
damage; this result in diabetic retinopathy. When the weakened blood vessels of eye leak some fluid, it
causes eyes to swell. This swelling leads to blurred vision.
The blurredvision is the warning sign of diabetes; it alarms the person that something
is going wrong. You must plan a doctor’s visit. If the doctor’s visit is postponed the situation may get
worse as the retina can be stretched even further from other eye parts; the result is the complete
blindness.
Giving importance to this warning sign of diabetes in time can retard diabetic
neuropathy by laser treatment.
