FATIGUE - WARNING SIGN OF DIABETES
Our body can experience being worn down, tired or fatigued because of several reasons. It can be
stress, medication, pregnancy or inactivity. A statistical data shows that tiredness is the second most
frequently mentioned complain by the patients in doctor’s office. But it is important o note that fatigue or
tiredness is also the warning sign of diabetes.
If you find your loved one or yourself drowsy or fatigued repeatedly during the daytime then it
could be the sign of diabetes. If this fatigue is combined with any other sign of diabetes like excessive
thirst or frequent urination, irritability, skin problem or blurred vision you must plan a doctor’s visit to
have a diabetes screening test.
The main reason behind this diabetic related fatigue is the imbalance of glucose in blood. The use
and division of glucose in the body is controlled by insulin. Insulin is a hormone used for the conversion of
glucose into energy. The diabetics either have short of insulin or their cells is unable o properly use the
provided insulin. As a result the glucose keeps floating in the blood where it cannot be used for the release
of energy or as the power releasing source.
The result is that person feels constantly tired or drained. The body of the diabetic is like a car
that does not have the petrol. The body like car needs sugar to keep it moving.
If the warning signs of diabetes like fatigue are given prime importance it can result in early
detection. Timely diagnosis and treatment can control the levels of blood sugar in the body. This can remove
the tired feeling.
The symptom of diabetes “tiredness” can be expelled simply by exercising, change in diet and losing
weight specifically if diabetes is diagnosed at an early stage. Even if it is diagnosed at a bit later stage
the tiredness can be eliminated by administrating some oral diabetic medication.
