Numbness Tingling in Hands Fingers Symptoms
Diabetes
A doctor always advises a newly diagnosed diabetic to keep an eye on feet. This is
vital because foot condition signals the stage of diabetic complications. If the foot condition is getting
worse then it is a straightforward alarm for the diabetic to get more involved in diabetic treatment and
care.
Consistent high level of glucose in blood leads to various complications. These
complications affect different organs of the body.
In case of feet the first complication is the hindrance in blood circulation. It is
believed that high-level of sugar makes the lining of blood vessels rough. This allows the fatty deposits to
stick on the lining of blood vessels. This piling up leads to arteriosclerosis. It becomes difficult to push
the blood and the extremities suffer the most. The result is that feet if ever pick any bruise or cut take a
much longer healing time.
Over a period of time the poor blood circulation start to affect small blood vessels
and capillaries which are responsible for supplying blood to extremities and nervous system of the body.
Eventually the poor blood circulation starts affecting the efficiency of nervous system. Thus numbness in
hand and feet set in and is termed “diabetic neuropathy”
The person starts to lose the sensation in his feet. Sometimes it appears as needles,
pins or numbness. Poor sensitivity in the feet makes them more prone towards cuts, infections and
bruises.
If the feet seem to become numb it is better top consult doctor. Diabetics should have
their feet checked by the doctor bi-annually. This also enables the doctor and the patient to detect how the
diabetes is affecting the overall condition of the body.
