
SIGNS OF GESTATIONAL DIABETES
A temporary phase of diabetes that occurs during pregnancy is termed gestational diabetes. It is
good to be aware of warning signs of diabetes during pregnancy. If the symptoms are seen, the medical advice
should be taken immediately.
Any pregnant women can be at the risk of developing diabetes. A rough estimate says that one woman
out of every 25 has to suffer from gestational diabetes. Normally the diabetes shows its symptoms in the
third month of pregnancy, but sometimes it can be before or after this time. A woman however is at more risk
of developing gestational diabetes if she is overweight or is over the age of 30 years.
The pregnancy hormones change the chemistry of the body. These hormones cause problem in converting
sugar into energy. The specific hormones that are thought to cause the problem are released from
placenta.

If a pregnant woman is experiencing any of the above symptoms she must consult doctor.
